چکیده

Significant advances in reconstructive head and neck surgery with free microvascular flaps have had a positive impact on esthetic outcomes quality of life. However, complications still occur some patients. This study investigated the influence Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocyte, Platelet Score (HALP score), an immunonutritive marker, flap success. The retrospective analysis included 194 patients who underwent reconstruction defects flaps. HALP score correlated strongly overall complications, including necrosis, infection, fistula, hematoma. albumin, lymphocytes, platelets individually showed associations specific complications. was extremely strong predictor (AUC = 0.85). may be valuable for assessing patient status predicting free-flap to allow timely interventions improve outcomes. Further research is needed investigate additional predictors postoperative care.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Double free flaps for reconstruction of complex/composite defects in head and neck surgery.

OBJECTIVE. To demonstrate the feasibility of double free flap surgery in head and neck reconstruction. DESIGN. Descriptive case series. SETTING. A university-affiliated hospital in Hong Kong. PATIENTS. Twelve patients with head and neck cancer (encountered over a 2.5-year period) who had reconstructive surgery with planned simultaneous double free flaps. RESULTS. The mean total operating time w...

THE CLINICAL APPLICATION OF PREFABRICATED FREE FLAPS FOR NASAL RECONSTRUCTION

We have found prefabrication of hairless radial forearm free flap to be a useful technique for nasal reconstruction. Prior skin grafting and a suitable period of maturation permits safe, reliable surgery. Its use should be considered in those patients whose forehead tissue is not suitable or in whom appropriate distant flaps are not available, as is often the case with hirsute males.
